News and Notes: Guardians Win Eighth in a Row
News and Notes for Sunday, May 26th, 2024
The Guardians made the score a little closer at 4-3, but a Jose Ramirez two-run homer was the difference maker as the team found a way to beat the Angels again and keep pace with the torrid Angels.
It is Country Weekend at Angels’ statdium and former LGT writer Tyler Freeman offered an important thread of the Guardians looking awesome while photoshopped as cowboys:

That seemed important to get out the way. Now, back to the game, after failing to score off Jose Soriano last time he faced them, the Guardians got to him in the third inning with a Tyler Freeman single scoring Estevan Florial who had reached on a walk, and a wild pitch scoring Brayan Rocchio who had reach via a single, and then the big blow from Jose:

Guardians Starter Tanner Bibee had one rough inning and, mainly, one bad pitch to future Guardian Taylor Ward who hit a three-run homer. Bibee then went six innings, striking out six and only walking one. Cade Smith, Hunter Gadds and Emmanuel Clase handled the rest, including two strikeouts in which he made Zach Neto look silly and won a lengthy at-bat against Jo Adell with a wipeout slider.
The team is absolutely rolling and it’s great to see. Bibee had a very important interview in postgame:

Terry Pluto had an article where he took a mea culpa for predicting the Guardians to finish 72-90, and also wrote an article calling for the promotion of Daniel Schneemann.
Steven Kwan hit a home run in a rehab appearance in Lake County and gave his endorsement of drafting Travis Bazzana from his alma mater:
Of course I had to ask Steve Kwan, as a former Oregon State Beaver, if he's making a pitch for Travis Bazzana at 1-1. He gave some great thoughts. pic.twitter.com/bOpSjPDvY1

Around MLB:
The Royals, Twins and Tigers all won. It’s gotta be a little frustrating for their fans seeing the Guardians winning, night in and night out.
