Report: Chelsea want to swoop for 26-year-old Spurs and Newcastle target
HITC have now revealed that managerless Chelsea have now made advances to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.
It has been well-documented over recent months that Tottenham had been quite keen on signing Adarabioyo, who is now a free agent after his contract with Fulham ran out (Football.London).
It seemed like Spurs were about to miss out on the Englishman as it was widely reported over the last few days that the player was on the verge of signing for Newcastle United (iNews).
However, if HITC’s latest update is to be believed, Adarabioyo’s move to St James’ Park is not a done deal as of yet, with Chelsea now looking to hijack the transfer.
Chelsea make approach for Tosin Adarabioyo
The report says that Newcastle had been locked in talks with the free agent and were confident of winning the race for his signature.
However, with a deal yet to be finalised, the Blues have now sensed an opportunity and made advances towards signing Adarabioyo.
The report explains that Mauricio Pochettino was unsure about a move for the Englishman but now that the Argentine has departed Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea hierarchy view the deal to sign the defender on a free as ‘an astute piece of business’.
Interestingly, the outlet mentions that Adarabioyo could be a replacement for Trevoh Chalobah, who the Blues are willing to sell amidst interest from Tottenham.
Spurs Web Opinion
It sounds like Adarabioyo has already rejected Tottenham’s approach, which is why the Lilywhites no longer seem to be involved in the race. The player likely sought guarantees regarding game time which the Postecoglou’s men could not give.
