'Just hilarious!' MTG's science gaffes mocked as 'The View' asks why she's on COVID panel
"The View" hosts were furious after watching the hearing in the House Monday.
Dr. Anthony Fauci testified before the House Oversight and Accountability Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Monday, where Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) refused to refer to him as a "doctor" and claimed that he should be in prison for "crimes against humanity."
Committee Chair Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) ordered Greene to refer to the witness as "doctor" as she held up a photo of people wearing masks.
"First of all, who's paying for this?" Whoopi Goldberg exclaimed.

"We are," Alyssa Farah Griffin said.
"The taxpayers," Sunny Hostin chimed in.
"What the hell, man?" Goldberg continued. "Dr. Fauci denied any efforts to improperly influence the debate over COVID's origin, but, you know, everybody says, this thing hit, we tried to figure out what it was, and we're still trying to figure out what it is.
"No one is sure where it came from or what's going on, but was this really looking for answers to more BS from there?"
Sara Haines credited Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) for Comer's direction of Greene. Crockett had pressed a different GOP committee chair to enforce the rule that lawmakers are not allowed to attack each other personally after Greene took a swipe at her eyelashes — and was not rebuked.
Haines said that thanks to Crockett, committee chairs are now enforcing rules that Greene has flagrantly violated for years.
She argued that people can play Monday-morning quarterback on the pandemic, but "everyone was doing what they could in realtime. There was no deep-state conspiracy theory that wanted, for some reason, the Republican Party to vote out Donald Trump. This was a global pandemic. The theories around this actually are so crazy I don't know how anyone is indulging them."
But it was comedian and longtime host Joy Behar who pointed out that Greene has "no business being on a committee about science."
"This is the woman who says Jewish space lasers cause fires. That was the first thing," said Behar. She also pointed out that Greene skipped seven of the first ten hearings for the committee itself.
"But this is something that she said that I think is just hilarious: she has publicly questioned this, 'If the Earth spins at a thousand miles an hour why can't we feel ourselves moving? She's really dumb! She's dumb. It's a quote. She's really stupid, you know, and so disrespectful to Dr. Fauci."
