Albany gas prices fell slightly over past week

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Gas prices in the Albany area have fallen 1.8 cents per gallon over the past week, according to GasBuddy. The average price of gas in the Capital Region is now $3.56 per gallon.

Prices in the Albany area are 11.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 14.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. According to GasBuddy, the cheapest station in Albany was priced at $3.31 per gallon while the most expensive was $3.79 per gallon. The lowest price in New York State on Sunday was $2.83 per gallon while the highest was $4.69 per gallon.

The national price of gas has risen 1 cent in the past week for an average of $3.41 per gallon. The national average is down 18 cents per gallon from a month ago and is 13.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

"Since the national average price of gasoline fell to its lowest June level since 2021 last week, we've seen the drop in prices take a break, with some states seeing a small rise over the last week. Thankfully, I expect this to be more like a short timeout, with an eventual return to falling gasoline prices in most states," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
