A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a car on the sidewalk before it crashed through a metal fence into the front yard of a home in Bridgeport on Monday.
The Bridgeport Emergency Operation Center received several calls around 11:40 a.m. on Monday for a motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash on East Main Street, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
The callers reported that a black Audi hit a pedestrian and crashed through a fence into the front yard of 1109 East Main Street, police said. The Bridgeport Fire Department, American Medical Response and Bridgeport police officers were dispatched to the scene.
As officers arrived at the scene, they observed the pedestrian, identified as a 27-year-old Bridgeport man, lying on the ground with serious injuries, according to police. The man received medical attention and was transported to the Bridgeport Hospital where he was listed in serious condition, police said.
