Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Receive Legendary Gifts Ahead Of India’s Super 8 Clash Against Afghanistan – WATCH
New Delhi: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma got special gifts for legendary Sir Wesley Hall ahead of India’s opening Super 8 clash against Afghanistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at Barbados on Tuesday. Known as one of the fierce pacers the game of cricket has ever produced, Hall presented his book ‘Answering to the Call’ to both Indian stalwarts after their training session. Indian head coach Rahul Dravid too got a copy.
The 86-year-old also had a brief conversation with Kohli and heaped praise on the former India captain, called him a ‘great player’, and hoped that he would continue to play for India. Published in November 2022, ‘Answering to the Call’ revolves around Hall’s illustrious cricketing career and his journey to become one of the top pacers in the history of the game.
The second part of the book was released earlier this year which reveals Hall’s time as a senator and a politician. Kohli also clicked a picture with Hall and his family, the video of which went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Kohli, who is opening the innings instead of his usual No.3 position in batting order, has so far failed in this tournament. In three matches so far, Kohli’s scores read 1, 4 and 0. The former India captain managed just one against Ireland and was dismissed for four against Pakistan. In the game against USA, Kohli was out for golden duck – his first in T20 World Cup.

On the contrary, Rohit has one fifty in three innings so far in the tournament. India advanced to the Super 8 stage from Group A with three wins from four games. India won against Ireland, Pakistan and USA before their game against Canada was washed out.
In the Super 8 stage, the Men in Blue will play against Afghanistan (June 20), Bangladesh (June 22) and Australia (June 24). For the unknown, Hall represented West Indies in 48 Test matches and took 192 wickets.
