I’m a G-cup and I went to work with no bra on – people stared and my boobs drooped, but I’ve never felt more free
ASK most women and the highlight of their day will be the moment they come home and can finally take off their bra.
So a whole day without having to wear one would probably be most women’s idea of heaven, right?

Well, not quite. According to an exclusive survey of Fabulous readers, for those with larger boobs opting to ditch the bra would be more hell than heaven.
Of the 2000 readers surveyed, all of whom were a cup size DD or above, just 30% would be comfortable going braless in public.
Only a third of big-boobed women are happy to go braless
This is despite the rise of anti-bra campaigners, including Chidera Eggerue, the creator of the #SaggyBoobsMatter social hashtag, who have been encouraging women to let it all hang free since lockdown.
Charlotte Bridson, 24, would have counted herself among those afraid to lose her bra – until recently.
At a 36G, Charlotte admits the only time she would consider ditching her underwear is in the privacy of her own car.
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous, she explains: “The only time I would ever consider not wearing a bra is when I am dropping someone to the train station.

“Even then you’ll find me in an oversized hoodie and running to the car with my arms folded.”
So when we asked Charlotte to try heading into the office sans bra, it’s fair to say she was a little apprehensive.
She says: “I never go braless, even though I would love to, I just feel more secure when I have one on.
“Having said that, there is nothing better than the feeling at the end of the day when you get home and take your bra off.
The rise of the 'no-bra' movement
Research claims that how a woman in perceived is often down to what she is wearing underneath her clothes.
In 2019, a Canadian woman was fired after refusing to wear a bra or vest when working as a waitress at a golf club.
In 2017, a girl from Kent was sent home from school for not wearing a bra.
Now, women around the world are questioning the societal expectation that women should wear a bra – just as they did with heels.
Among the anti-bra campaigners is 23-year-old fashion blogger Chidera Eggerue, the creator of the social media hashtag #SaggyBoobsMatter which highlights the issues faced by women with larger breasts who go braless.
The movement has been on the rise since lockdown.
Research carried out by Censuswide for Tu in 2021 revealed that 46 percent of women discarded their bras in the name of comfort at least once a week during the pandemic.
A YouGov poll in 2021 found that a third of British women, of which I am one, threw out their bras in lockdown.
“The trouble is I really struggle to get a decent bra. Even when I go to specialist bra shops for bigger busted girls I won’t be able to find one to fit.
“So if I can get away with going braless then that would solve the age old problem of finding the perfect underwear.”
Meanwhile, 64% of fuller busted readers told us they struggled to find clothes that properly fit and flatter their chests.

“I certainly noticed a few eyes on me,” admits Charlotte.
“But everyone I asked said they couldn’t even tell that I didn’t have a bra on – though whether they were just being polite.
“However, I could REALLY tell.
“My boobs are usually hoicked up by my chest but today they felt like they had dropped down to my belly button.
“I definitely felt self-conscious at the start but as I settled into my work day I forgot that anything was different and I relaxed into it.
“I was expecting much more of a reaction than I got in the office – people were too busy getting on with their day to notice me.”

While Charlotte admits that she wears bras to feel more supported, she was pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort she felt without one.
“I felt surprisingly comfortable today,” she says.
“I thought I would feel really self conscious but I’ve actually felt quite free without the restrictions of the bra.
“Having this tighter dress on worked wonders as I felt more secure and supported.
There is such a stigma over going braless
“It was so much more comfortable not wearing a bra although perhaps that’s because I’m in the office.
“Had I been moving around a bit more I think I would be far more aware that I was braless but just being at work I was very comfy and I didn’t have the awkward restrictions.”
Having survived her day in the office, Charlotte is ready to lead a revolution when it comes to freeing the boob.
“There is such a stigma over going braless but I feel like it’s something that we need to look past and allow women to do,” she says.
“Obviously it’s a personal choice but if going braless is more comfortable for you then why not lose the bra?”
