Marcus Stoinis surpasses Mohammad Nabi, gains the top position among T20 all-rounders
Marcus Stoinis the ‘Australian Hulk ‘on Wednesday overtook Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan to take the top spot among all-rounders in the most recent ICC T20 rankings. Stoinis has won Australia a couple of games single-handedly and is the only player in the top 50 to score at a strike rate of 190 in a tournament where strike rates have been thrown out of the window due to slow surfaces.
Stoinis snared six wickets and also made valuable contribution with the bat to help Australia cruise to the Super Eights in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
With 231 rating points, Stoinis moved one place to the top of the rankings tree, having taken six wickets and accumulated 156 runs in the T20 World Cup thus far. However, because to his poor performance with the bat and ball, Nabi has fallen three spots to No. 4. Wanindu Hasaranga went up to No. 2 with a stronger performance at bat, while Shakib Al Hasan moved up two spots to No. 3 thanks to his match-winning half-century against the Netherlands and a few wickets against Nepal. West Indies’ bowlers have shone the brightest so far in the tournament and the rankings reflect that.
After moving up six spots to take second position in the bowlers’ ranking, left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein is now behind England’s Adil Rashid. In addition,Gudakesh Motie has jumped 16 ranks to take 13th place, while Alzarri Joseph has moved up six spots to 11th.
With Phil Salt, Babar Azam, and Mohammed Rizwan tied for second, third, and fourth place, respectively, India’s Suryakumar Yadav continued to be the world’s best batsman in the shortest format.
Australian opener Travis Head is up five places to fifth, while West Indies wicketkeeper batter Nicholas Pooran has jumped eight places to 11th.
Sherfane Rutherford of the West Indies shot up to 42nd place, jumping 43 spots.
