Report: Spurs target expected to be available for under £30m this summer

According to BBC Sport, Lille are prepared to sell rumoured Tottenham target Jonathan David for less than £30m this summer.

David, who has been one of the most prolific strikers in Ligue 1 over the last three seasons, is expected to depart the Stade Pierre Mauroy since he has just 12 months left on his contract.

Over the last couple of weeks, several outlets have named Tottenham and Manchester United as the two clubs who have shown the keenest interest in the Canadian international, although neither have held any formal talks with Lille (Dharmesh Sheth).

On Sunday, The Athletic reported that Chelsea had reached out to David’s representatives regarding a potential switch to the Premier League side.

BBC Sport have now also backed up Blues’ interest in the Lille star, claiming that the Stamford Bridge outfit are now ‘internally discussing’ a move for David as well as other forwards.

The publication pointed out that Chelsea would face quite a lot of competition for the 24-year-old, who is said to be available for a fee under £30m this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Tottenham do not get involved in the race for David’s signature as the Lille forward is a good stylistic fit for Ange’s system and is seemingly available for a much lower fee than the likes of Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez.
