News24 | 'Small and unviable': Eastern Cape government to close around 1 000 schools in rural areas

To deal with an infrastructure backlog amounting to billions of rand in rural areas, the Eastern Cape Department of Education is set close about 1 000 schools deemed unviable due to the small number of pupils.
