Slingerlands man drowns in Long Lake

LONG LAKE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office reported that a drowning occurred on Long Lake on July 4. The victim has been identified as Daniel Heenan, 66, of Slingerlands.

On Thursday around 10:02 p.m., deputies received a report from witnesses that a man was missing after jumping off a dock in the area alongside another person. Following an extensive search, Sheriff's Office divers located Heenan's body at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was assisted by state forest rangers, state police and Long Lake Fire Department and EMS. Stay with NEWS10 as this story continues to develop.
