‘The Icon of the Seas’ is not only five times the size of the Titanic but also has its own waterfall. This vessel was constructed in Finland,where its first was also conducted . A team of 450 specialists and four tugboats conducted the trial ahead of its official debut, and the ship embarked on its maiden voyage from the Port of Miami on January 27, 2024.

The ship can accommodate up to 5,610 guests (with a maximum capacity of 7,600) at a time. It has a crew of 2,350 to serve the guests. It stretches an impressive 1,198 feet (365 meters) long, dwarfing the Titanic, which measured 269 meters when it debuted in 1912 as the largest ship of its time.

 It is built at an astonishing cost of £1.5 billion. The Icon of the Seas has a mix of theme park thrills, beach retreats, fine dining, and entertainment on its seven-night cruises across the Eastern and Western Caribbean year-round. It offers various packages for catering to different budgets which are quite costly. 

The cheapest option starts from £1,482 per person for a seven-night stay in an interior cabin in September 2024. For guests who want to take a luxurious experience, the ship offers a three-story townhouse apartment where eight people can sleep and includes its own cinema and slide between levels, priced at approximately £70,000 for a week.

The Largest Waterpark At Sea: Thrilling Experience

It is famous for its “largest waterpark at sea”. Guests can take a thrilling experience of six record-breaking waterslides, including the “Frightening Bolt” and the “Pressure Drop,”. It also has the first open, freefall waterslide on a cruise. The ship has seven different pools and nine whirlpools, which are designed to make guests feel that they are in the ocean.

Dining & Stunning Islands Experience

It has a variety of food options available for the tourists. It has around 40 different restaurants on board which offer different & unique cuisine & taste. Passengers also have the opportunity to visit some of the Caribbean’s most stunning islands, including The Bahamas, Cozumel (Mexico), Philipsburg (St. Maarten), Roatan, and Honduras.

‘The Icon of the Seas’ Impressive Features

Aquadome is one of the biggest attractions for the cruise, it has the largest freestanding dome at sea, made up of 700 glass panels. During the day, you can see panoramic ocean views, while in the night, it transforms into the AquaTheatre, where a 55-foot waterfall changes onto a stage for cirque-style shows.

The ship is divided into eight distinct neighborhoods, including “Central Park,” a serene area featuring a real park with 33,500 plants and actual trees. There is also a zip line suspended 154 feet above the ocean.

A Sister Ship On Its Way

The Icon of the Seas will soon be joined by its sister ship, ‘Utopia of the Seas’; it may debut later in 2024. While slightly smaller, Utopia also has its own features, including the longest dry slide at sea and even an onboard train.
