Pundit says Spurs star is too ‘hot-headed’, and it isn’t Cristian Romero for once
Shay Given says Guglielmo Vicario has clear weaknesses in his game that can be exploited by the opposition, adding that the Tottenham man is also too hot-headed for his liking.
Vicario struggles from set-pieces
A lot of Premier League sides targeted Vicario’s perceived weaknesses in set-pieces last season and the same has happened at the start of the new campaign, with the Italian still far from convincing during corners and indirect free-kicks.
While Ange Postecoglou publicly defended his goalkeeper last season, even the Australian will likely admit privately that the 27-year-old has work to do when it comes to set-pieces.
According to The Daily Mail’s recent report, while the Tottenham coaching staff really value Vicario’s shot-stopping and ability to play out from the back, they are concerned about his reluctance to attack crosses.

Vicario also got involved in a confrontation with Jurrien Timber in the first half of the North London derby for which he was booked, and Given believes that the Spurs man loses his cool too easily.
The former Newcastle goalkeeper told BBC Radio 5 Live (7:14 pm, Sept 16): “I am trying to stick up for Vicario as best I can as an ex-goalkeeper, but what I am trying to say is that there’s a weakness there.
“I think he is a bit hot-headed at times. He gets involved in stuff I don’t think he should get involved in.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Goalkeepers need to be extremely composed and one can argue that Vicario’s hot-headedness does perhaps get in the way of some of his decision-making when it comes to set-piece situations.
Hopefully, he we calm down a little once he gets another Premier League season under his belt.
