David Ornstein makes interesting comparison between Postecoglou and Mikel Arteta
David Ornstein believes that the panic and the sense of crisis among Spurs fans and sections of the media will not be replicated internally at Tottenham, with the club still fully behind Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou is coming under external pressure
Even though we are just four games into the new season and Tottenham’s performances have been far from terrible, there is certainly a sense of panic among a section of the fan base after two back-to-back losses against Newcastle United and Arsenal.
However, Postecoglou has continued to be defiant, being adamant that his side can still win silverware this season and that the results will turn around (Football.London).
According to The Daily Mail, internally at Spurs, many feel that the team’s performances have improved this season, even though results have not been favourable.
The outlet claimed that Postecoglou is urging the players to remain calm and is reiterating the message that will see results if they continue with the same approach.
Postecoglou likely to get same internal support as Arteta did
Ornstein believes that the Australian coach has the full backing of the Tottenham hierarchy at this stage and suggested the 59-year-old might be able to come through this spell just as Mikel Arteta did at Arsenal if he continues to get full support from those around him.
The journalist said on The Athletic FC’s podcast: “So this noise and understandable reaction from a lot of the public, and Spurs fans post the north London derby defeat, I suspect will not be replicated inside the club and in the hierarchy.
“If they are fully behind Ange Postecoglou in the way that Arsenal were when Mikel Arteta was facing external pressure, then you’d like to think that in time, things will improve.
“Whether it’s in the way that Arsenal have, or better, or worse, we will have to wait and see.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the nature of the 24-hour media cycle, there is a constant need to be reactive to each result and blow things out of proportion.
The reality is that we are still quite early into the season and there have undoubtedly been many positive signs so far this season.
