Woman pushed onto L train subway tracks in Brooklyn: NYPD
BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- A woman was pushed onto the subway tracks at the Jefferson Street station in Bushwick, Brooklyn Thursday morning, police said.
The 62-year-old victim told PIX11 News she was waiting on the platform a little before 6 a.m. when she was approached by a man asking for a lighter.
The victim said she gave the stranger a lighter, but the two exchanged words. The man then punched her in the face and pushed her onto the subway tracks, police said.
A fellow commuter immediately jumped in to help and pulled the woman back onto the platform, police said. She was taken to the hospital with injuries to her ankle and elbow.
The NYPD released a surveillance image of the suspect, who hasn't been arrested.
The suspect is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and was last seen wearing a blue durag, a gray shirt, gray pants, and white and pink sneakers, police said.
