NCAA approves Gallaudet's use of helmet for deaf players this season

Washington, D.C.: The NCAA has approved the use of a helmet for the remainder of the season for players from Gallaudet's football team who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Gallaudet University and AT&T developed the helmet, and the team played one game with it. The Bison won that day after opening 0-4, starting a three-game winning streak.
