We’re only in Week 2 of the NFL season, and takes are already flying. Some are good, and some are not so great. It’s usually not a good sign when the parents of star athletes start speaking out on social media. The latest example is James Odunze, the father of Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze. Last night, James posted a clip of Rome making a subtle move to get wide open during the season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
The main issue is that James posted this clip without any context, leading to widespread speculation. People wondered if it was a jab at Caleb Williams or if there was dissatisfaction with the Bears. The post caused a frenzy on social media. DaBearsBlog’s Robert Schmitz provided valuable insights on why he disagrees with this move by Rome’s father.
Who knows. Maybe I'm misreading it. But that's the issue with "presented without comment" — it leaves things open to being misread I guess. Maybe JO is digging at Orlovsky earlier (and if he is, you could cut up like 4-5 great routes from last Sunday to prove that wrong)

Thursday morning, we discovered that James is probably sharing the clip of Rome getting open in response to ESPN NFL Analyst Dan Orlovsky’s criticism, where he claimed that Rome isn’t able to get open at this level.

Based on the stats James shared, it appears that Rome is actually getting more separation than Giants rookie WR Malik Nabers and Cardinals rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. It’s great to see Rome’s father supporting him. My only suggestion would be to provide a bit more context upfront with his initial post as it might have stopped the speculation.
