Women's Health Wednesday: Go Red for Women

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women in the United States. Over the last 20 years, the American Heart Association’s initiative, Go Red for Women, has been working to raise awareness about women’s greatest health threat.

On Friday, November 8, the annual Go Red for Women Luncheon will be held at the Albany Capital Center. The event will raise funds to invest in research about women and cardiovascular disease while also celebrating 20 years of survivors.

Since 2004, Go Red has raised $700 million for women’s cardiovascular health.

In this week's Women's Health Wednesday, Suzie Mookherjee, MD, cardiologist at Albany Medical Center, and a member of the board of directors at the American Heart Association in the Capital Region, talks about the importance of prioritizing heart health. Dr. Mookherjee will also be a panelist at the Go Red for Women Luncheon.
