“Requires a bit of patience”: India coach breaks silence on Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli’s dismal form
India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar is confident that senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will soon return to great form despite their recent struggles with the bat.
Rohit and Kohli’s dismal form in both the ODI and Test format has been one of the main reasons why India slumped to defeat in the one-day series against Sri Lanka earlier in August and then the Test series at home against New Zealand.
It’s safe to say that all eyes will be on both Rohit and Kohli as they try to improve their form in the upcoming 3rd Test against the Black Caps which will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from November 1.
Nayar emphasized that effort is not lacking in either player and suggested that it’s only a matter of time before they regain their rhythm.
“Everyone’s worked really hard; everyone wants to do well, whether it’s Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, or a younger player like Shubman Gill. The effort is there,” Nayar said at a press conference.
“The approach is solid. They’re putting in the hard work, and sometimes, even the greatest players face tough phases. I’m certain we’ll soon have more to celebrate about Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others. It just requires a bit of patience,” Nayar added.
Both Rohit and Kohli will be keen to regain their form with the Border-Gavaskar series right around the corner.
