FAYETTEVILLE – The 2024-25 season for Arkansas men’s basketball will officially begin on Wednesday (Nov. 6) when the #16 Razorbacks host Lipscomb. Tipoff is set for 7 pm and the game will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus.

This will mark Arkansas’s season and home opener. Lipscomb began its season on Monday with a win at Duquesne.

Arkansas is opening its 102nd year of basketball. Arkansas is 82-19 in season openers all-time and 91-10 in home openers.  Arkansas has won 48 of the last 50 season openers dating back to 1974-75 with both losses coming on neutral courts. The Razorbacks have won 50 straight home openers, including a 31-0 record in openers inside Bud Walton Arena.

John Calipari is 25-7 as a collegiate head coach in season openers and 29-3 in home openers.

NOTES:

• Arkansas is 3-0 all-time versus Lipscomb with all three meetings coming in the state of Arkansas ­ two in Fayetteville and one in North Little Rock. The Razorbacks hosted the Bisons in Bud Walton Arena in 2004, winning 83-54, and 2020, winning 86-50.
• The last time Arkansas and Lipscomb met was last year in North Little Rock. Makhi Mitchell made two key baskets inside the final four minutes and Davonte Davis’ layup with 26 seconds left in the game allowed Arkansas to hold on for a 69-66 victory of Lipscomb at Simmons Bank Arena. Arkansas, up eight at halftime, used an 18-6 run to start the second half to grab a 20-point lead. However, Lipscomb used a 21-2 run – including a 17-0 spurt – to cut the deficit to one (63-62) with 4:29 left. With 1:17 left, Lipscomb was credited with a fastbreak layup on a goaltending call. The call was reviewed and, after several minutes, was upheld to make the score 67-66 in the Razorbacks’ favor. Both teams missed their next shot attempts and Davis drove the lane to make his jumper with 26 ticks left to put the Hogs up three (69-66). Lipscomb had three chances (two being 3-pointers) inside the final 15 seconds but could not convert.
• John Calipari is 1-0 all-time versus Lipscomb. His Kentucky team defeated the Bisons, 88-50, in Dec. 2012 in Rupp Arena.
