Islamabad Court issues arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi in corruption case
A court in Islamabad issued an arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Thursday in connection with a case involving the sale of government gifts.
In this case, both Khan and his wife have been accused of illegally selling government gifts worth 140 million Pakistani rupees.
ARY News Pakistan reported on Thursday, December 5, that there is a possibility of Bushra Bibi’s second arrest in this case. She had previously been arrested and spent nine months in Adiala Jail. She was released from prison in October.
Meanwhile, last week, the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and 94 senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
This decision came after protests by Khan’s supporters, which were met with police repression. The arrest orders are part of the ongoing legal and political turmoil surrounding the former prime minister and his party leaders.
The arrest warrants and the ongoing legal battles have added to the escalating tensions in Pakistan, further deepening the political instability.
The country is grappling with increasing insecurity as protests and demonstrations continue to rise in response to the government’s actions against Imran Khan and his party.
The ongoing crackdown on PTI leaders and supporters has sparked fears of more violent confrontations between the police and demonstrators.
As Pakistan faces rising political unrest, many fear that the country’s fragile security situation could deteriorate even further.
The situation has created a sense of uncertainty, with citizens anxious about the future, while political analysts warn that the growing divide between the government and opposition could lead to more unrest and instability in the coming months.
