Destiny Udogie sends message to his Tottenham teammates amid poor form
Destiny Udogie has called on Tottenham Hotspur to ‘stick together’ after a very poor team display as they were defeated on the road against Bournemouth.
Tottenham were way off it against Bournemouth
Tottenham went to Bournemouth looking to get back to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Fulham, but they suffered a one-goal defeat, while Bournemouth had plenty of chances to double their lead, particularly in the latter stages of the game.
Bournemouth scored the only goal of the match from a corner, when Dean Huijsen slipped away from Radu Dragusin and aimed his header past Fraser Forster, but Tottenham looked less likely to score as the match progressed.
The loss means Tottenham have now failed to win their three most recent matches and have lost three of their past six matches in all competitions, in what is a concerning run of form for Spurs.
Destiny Udogie attempts to rally his teammates
Destiny Udogie has faced his fair share of criticism this season, but despite Tottenham’s poor performance tonight, he should not be too discouraged by his individual performance.
Playing the full 90 minutes, he made six tackles, achieved a pass accuracy of 89 per cent and won 10 of his 12 ground duels, while obtaining a 7.6 match rating on Sofascore, second only to Forster.
During a post-match interview, Udogie called on his teammates to move forward and remain as one.
He said: “We came here to win and it didn’t go that way. We have to stay together and focus on the next game. They played their game. It was a tough game.
“Big disappointment to concede a goal like this. It’s not the best time for us with injuries but as a group, we have to stick together.” (BBC)
Although Udogie has claimed Spurs played to win against their hosts, they failed to create a single big chance during the match and had 12 shots compared to Bournemouth’s 21, with just four landing on target.
Fans are tired of the players making excuses
Tottenham are now 10th in the Premier League table and six points off the top four and based on the fact Udogie’s post-match quotes received a lot more thumbs down than thumbs up on the BBC Sport website, the supporters are tired of the same old excuses.
While they have a few players out, whether it is because of bans, injuries or illnesses, there was enough quality on the pitch to make an impact tonight and it was one the worst performances we have seen under Ange Postecoglou.
With a high-flying Chelsea side up next for Spurs, they need to regroup and sort things out now, or they risk falling into the bottom half of the table.
