The examination of the chips inside two models of Huawei's Mate 70 series by Alexandra Noguera, an analyst at TechInsights, and her colleagues revealed that the US restrictions are stalling China's advancement in chip technology. They concluded that the chips were made by China's top chipmaker, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC), which "fits exactly what we have seen for the past two years," according to Noguera.
