I-70 reopens in Kansas after blizzard shutdown

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas transportation officials report that a major state highway is being reopened Monday following a weekend blizzard.

Ashley Perez with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) reported in a press release on Jan. 6 that both directions of I-70 are reopened to traffic from Salina to the east Geary County line. She said this was the last section of the highway which remained closed due to the weekend snow storm.

Perez said other state highways are also being reopened across Kansas such as I-135, U.S. 81 and U.S. 75 in Reno, Butler and Harvey Counties. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and be cautious when using the highways as ice and snow remain in many areas.

People can stay updated on the latest road conditions by calling 511 or by using kandrive.gov.
