TOPEKA (KSNT) - The City of Topeka reports it will be refocusing its efforts to clear roads in residential areas as part of ongoing efforts to remove snow this week.
City of Topeka spokesman Dan Garrett said in a press release on Jan. 10 that work crews will continue 24-hour snow-fighting efforts following the Jan. 5 blizzard and the arrival of more snow on Jan. 9. More than 25 city and contractor trucks have turned their efforts to treating and plowing residential areas.
“After completing main roads and arterials Friday morning, 21 city trucks and 6 contractor trucks have refocused efforts to treating and plowing residential streets. Crews will continue their efforts until all city streets are passable.”

Garrett highlighted pretreatment efforts made before the weekend of Jan.4-5 which helped to keep main roads and collector streets cleared of snow. He also said the Topeka Fire Department is fully operational despite current conditions and is responding to calls as usual.
"We appreciate the community’s support and ask for continued patience and understanding as we address road conditions following the third largest snowfall in Topeka history."
