I wouldn't put it past him (or others) to ignore served papers.
You regularly hear about footballers ignoring legal papers until they actually get a summons, sometimes even then.

There are a lot of footballers who deal terribly with money.
The sort who'd buy a £5k bottle in a club and pay an extra £3k to have it delivered to the table.
