Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi: No Negotiations on our Missile Capabilities
Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi firmly stated that Tehran will not negotiate its missile capabilities under any circumstances, emphasizing national security.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met on Friday in Geneva with his British, French, German counterparts and the European Union’s chief diplomat. Following the talks, Araghchi emphasized that Iran’s missile capabilities are not up for negotiation under any circumstances.
Araghchi said that Iran would only consider diplomacy if Israel ceased its attacks and was held accountable for its “crimes.” According to Al Jazeera, the minister expressed serious concern that the European trio and the EU had failed to condemn Israeli aggression.
He also underlined that Iran’s nuclear program was peaceful and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The minister condemned any attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites as a “serious crime,” and a blatant violation of international law.
Araghchi reiterated that Iran retained the right to self-defense against continued Israeli attacks. In his statement, he described Europe’s lack of strong condemnation as disappointing and urged them to take concrete measures to end the conflict.
Despite these tensions, Araghchi expressed Iran’s willingness to continue talks with European partners. He confirmed Iran’s openness to future dialogue to prevent further escalation.
This firm diplomatic stance underscores the fragility of any negotiations concerning Iran’s missile and nuclear programs. As tensions persist across the region, international actors continue to call for restraint and diplomatic solutions. Without tangible progress or compromise, the threat of continued hostilities and their wider repercussions may only grow.
