Krispy Kreme Partnering With Iconic Candy Bar for 1 Day Only
Earlier this year Krispy Kreme and McDonald's announced a joint partnership where the iconic doughnut chain's sweet treats would be available on the breakfast menu.
The decision came following a test at 160 various locations in Kentucky featuring three flavors: Original Glazed Doughnut, the Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles Doughnut and the Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut.
A month and a half later, Krispy Kreme and McDonald's officially announced their partnership is no more. The companies jointly decided to end their partnership as of July 2, with a release from the fast food chains suggesting it wasn't a profitable enough venture for the doughnut chain.
Josh Charlesworth, Krispy Kreme CEO revealed the chain wasn't able to "bring our costs in line with unit demand" which made were "the partnership unsustainable" for the doughnut chain.
Just a few days later, Krispy Kreme announced a new move - a partnership with Hershey's for World Chocolate Day on July 7. The beloved doughnut chain is offering its rarely available chocolate glazed doughnuts with Hershey's chocolate.
"Krispy Kreme fans always anticipate we’ll return our Chocolate Glazed doughnuts on World Chocolate Day, so this year we’re making it extra special and extra chocolatey by adding Hershey's to the glaze for the first time. It’s amazing, but only for one day. So, don’t miss out on this,” Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme Chief Growth Officer said in a statement.
Krispy Kreme is offering 50 percent off a dozen chocolate glazed doughnuts with the purchase of any dozen at regular price, but the offer only lasts for July 7.
