Costco’s Fan-Favorite Buttery Bakery Item Is Back: ‘It’s Amazing’
Costco has garnered a cult-following for its bakery items. The warehouse recently dropped a "must-try" French pastry, cheesy danishes, and, now, the popular Butter Cinnamon Sugar Loaf has found its way back into the grocer's aisles.
Per Costco's website, the Kirkland Signature offering (which resembles the flavors of a traditional coffee cake) features 12 servings per container. The bakery item was spotted as early as 2017, alongside other fan-favorites like the Double Chocolate Muffins and Almond Poppy Muffins, but has since been disappearing and mysteriously returning.
According to a recent Reddit thread, the loaf has been absent from certain Costco locations in Wisconsin for approximately "four years." It's suspected by customers to be a seasonal bakery treat that appears after the holidays despite the random times it's back on shelves. Shoppers have also noticed that the loaf may only be available in certain areas.

"Seasonal sure," one shopper wrote on a second Reddit thread. "But also regional, or at least, warehouse varying. Discovered it while visiting relatives in another state, and have since become VERY keenly aware that it is not offered in my local store."
Warehouse customers have deemed the loaf as "amazing" and "the best thing ever," adding that they will stock up on a couple of boxes and freeze them, due to the fact that it may be "months" before they are fired up again.

TikTok users are particularly excited for the buttery loaf's comeback. "This stuff is insane!!!," a commenter said. "I buy it every time I see it at Costco." Others are deeming the bakery item as a dessert by warming it up in the microwave and finishing it with scoops of their favorite ice cream.
The $10 sugary treat has been out since at least June 20, according to an Instagram post. "It was super delicious filled with lots of cinnamon swirls," the video caption said. "I would definitely get this."
With consumer excitement on one bakery offering comes division on another—Costco was recently slammed for its new $16 Thai dessert, with shoppers citing it as "awful." So maybe add the Butter Cinnamon Sugar Loaf to your cart, but skip out on the Thai Mango on Sticky Rice.
