'Out of Control' Gender Reveal Party Causes Chaos in Rental Home
Police in England were called to intervene after a gender reveal party became “out of control” at a well-known vacation rental.
The Manchester Evening News reported that police were summoned to the Falcon House on June 25 after a planned gender reveal party turned “out of control,” with guests spilling into the streets. Photos taken by neighbors show dozens of partygoers socializing in front of the house as car headlights are used to illuminate the fracas. The five-bedroom home, which features a hot tub in addition to a bar, is located in the typically quiet suburb of Norden, Greater Manchester, and can be rented for between $475 and $1,018 per night.
Eight people had originally booked the home through Instagram to use for a gender reveal party, but the final guest tally was closer to 200. According to the outlet, the partygoers allegedly caused around $2,700 in damages to Falcon House. Matt Genesis, who owns the property, told The Times that he went to the house around 9:30 p.m. local time on June 25 after he saw that his external surveillance systems had been disconnected.
“Whilst we were there, minibus after minibus was turning up,” Genesis reported. “I’d say one every 15 minutes, a minibus full of six to eight people walking in.” “It was out of control—police turned up. We called them, obviously, [and neighbors] had called them. It was out of our control. Even the guy who booked it, it was out of his control on his behalf—he said he didn’t expect anywhere near the amount of people, but it’s been passed around group and groups.”

Genesis continued: “It hit us [financially]. We seem like the bad guys, but at the same time, it did ultimately hit us in the pocket. Guests had [traveled] from as far as London for it, so it was very, very calculated.” He explained that the home had recently undergone a $271,600 renovation.
The home’s co-owner told the BBC that the event was "completely against our house rules" and "not what our [home] was set up for.” "We tried our best to shut the party down, but our efforts failed due to the sheer amount of people at the house and people continuing to arrive," he explained. "We were lied to and were victims ourselves and received around £2,000 worth of damages to our home carpets and furniture," he said.
