Kwekwe to host NDS1 Expo

KWEKWE District is set to host the second edition of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) Expo later this month.
The event will take place at the Kwekwe Mining Museum, building on the success of the inaugural expo held last year.
The event, facilitated by the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and Urban Development, aimed to showcase achievements under the Second Republic and create opportunities for an empowered society.
More than 90 companies and stakeholders are expected to participate at the expo, which focuses on various sectors like mining, housing, and health.
Kwekwe District NDS1 exhibition
In an interview Kwekwe District Development Co-ordinator Mr Fortune Mpungu said the exhibition will be held on July 24 and 25.
“We are holding the Kwekwe District NDS1 expo on July 25 and 25. This is a NDS 1 which is a medium plan to achieve vision 2030 objectives,” he said.
Mr Mupungu noted that all local authorities, government departments, non-governmental organisations, companies and SMEs will be showcasing their achievements under NDS1.
“We will be exhibiting under the 14 NDS1 thematic areas. So basically we will be reviewing NDS1 as kwekwe District. Other local authorities in the Midlands have also been invited. It will also be a platform for school pupils to be inducted for career guidance since we will be bring all kwekwe district development stakeholders under one roo,” he said.
He said the expo will be running under the theme, “building an inclusive and prosperous through sustained local economic transformation”.
“The theme reflects the government policy of leaving no place and noone behind in Kwekwe district. We will demonstrate how the whole of government and whole of society approach is being used to achieve vision 2030. Its also a platform to transition to NDS2,” he explained.
