FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Thursday morning!
Dry weather has given us a brief break from this wet pattern for the start of the day. Later on, a cold front will swing into the state. It will pick up more moisture as it moves through the area, stacking up more rain by the end of today.
We remain dry going into the late morning. Shortly after that, the front will descend from the northwest to the south. For places north of I-70, a stray shower or two will pop up as the front moves in. For the I-70 corridor, a couple of scattered showers will brew up throughout the second half of the day.
Places south of I-70 will see the steadiest impacts from this system. As the front works closer to the Ohio River, it stalls out. This will funnel in more training showers and thunderstorms. We could see some stronger storms in this area with a 1/5 risk for severe weather.
A Flood Watch has been issued for Pike, Ross, Athens, & Hocking County from 2 PM this afternoon through midnight. Runoff could lead to flooding waterways and roadways. There is also a heightened risk for flash flooding in this area.
The front provides some temporary relief for Friday. Temperatures dip below average for the first time in a while. Some sunshine works back in, but still with a stubborn shower or storm.
Seasonable weather with scattered showers and storms returns as we head into the weekend. The start of next week will tap into a warming trend that brings us to the 90s for next Wednesday. Skies are slightly drier, but still with a consistent spotty thunderstorm.
