Christian Pulisic could soon have a new Milan teammate in one of Serie A’s top transfers this summer
AC Milan is actively working to bolster its squad, and Christian Pulisic may soon have a new partner on the opposite wing. As the Rossoneri prepare for another competitive season in Serie A and Europe, they’ve turned their attention to strengthening the left-back position—seeking a dynamic presence to complement Pulisic’s contributions on the right flank.
Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that Milan has made a formal offer worth €12 million for a Premier League defender. However, the English club rejected the bid, deeming it too low. Despite that, negotiations remain open, with the Serie A giants encouraged by the fact that the selling club is willing to lower its initial asking price.
The target in question is Ecuadorian full-back Pervis Estupiñán, currently with Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls have reportedly reduced their demands from €30 million to €23 million, opening the door for Milan to improve its bid and potentially finalize the deal. If completed, Estupiñán would become the first Ecuadorian player in AC Milan history and bring experience from La Liga and the Premier League.
Estupiñán, 27, is valued at €30 million and considered one of the most expensive Ecuadorian players today. For him, this transfer window may represent a final opportunity to join a top-tier European club. His résumé includes solid stints at Osasuna and Villarreal before moving to England, where he’s impressed despite dealing with injuries.
A challenging season, but high potential
This past season was far from his best. Estupiñán was sidelined for long stretches due to injuries and only managed to play 2,847 minutes across 36 matches in all competitions. He registered one goal and one assist, numbers that don’t fully reflect his usual impact on the pitch.
Should Milan secure his services, Estupiñán would offer pace, energy, and width on the left, creating a more balanced attack—an ideal setup for a team where Pulisic has become increasingly influential. The potential duo could give Milan new tactical flexibility as they pursue domestic and European ambitions.
