Ridiculous to compare being told to stop running and being told you have cancer

I'm in my mid 50s and I am an avid, lifelong, long distance runner. If somebody suddenly told me I couldn't do it any more I would be more than gutted so I absolutely get where he's coming from. Comparing 2 things is not the same as equating them...

Never compare someone being told they have cancer to being told they can’t do one of many things to keep fit.
It really is rude

As somebody whose brother and mom have had and survived cancer, I'll make my own choices about when somebody has made an appropriate or inappropriate comparison. I'll not be told otherwise by you or anyone else (apart from my brother or my mom) ????
