0

Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte spoke to reporters for the first time on Sunday, just days after his home was burglarized as he took part in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta.

Through a translator, the second baseman said the situation is "not good." He also said that thieves who ransacked his home in Scottsdale, Arizona made off with items worth approximately $400,000.

Marte said he found out about his home being burglarized while he was playing in Tuesday's game at Truist Park.

According to multiple reports, police in Scottsdale are investigating the "high-dollar residential burglary." In the wake of the incident, the Diamondbacks placed Marte on the restricted list so he could deal with the fallout. He's expected back in the lineup for Monday's game at home against the Houston Astros.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said he's had limited contact with Marte as he dealt with this invasion of privacy.

"We all know what he's dealing with. It's unfortunate. And as I said, there are some savages out there that just don't respect people's privacy," Lovullo said. "Where he's at right now I've had limited contact with him. He retreats a little bit when he gets upset, and I respect that space and I'm gonna give him that space."
