Popular Coffee Brand Announces 'Urgent' Recall on K-Cups
Coffee lovers, you might want to take a moment before indulging in your next cup of Joe. That's because an "urgent" recall involving an Albuquerque, New Mexico-based coffee brand was just announced. And if you're a fan of the highly-popular coffee pods, you'll particularly want to take note.
In a statement shared by its president Matthew Bregar, New Mexico Pinon Coffee informed customers that it's recalling their New Mexico Pinon Coffee Dark Pinon Single Serve Cups. The cups recalled are in a 10-count box and have a lot code of 251749. They also have a use-by date of May 8, 2026.
New Mexico Pinon Coffee has opted to pull the pods because of the potential presence of ink in the coffee.
"This recall is being made because of the potential introduction of food coloring into the cup during brewing. This recall extends to the consumer level. Although New Mexico Pinon Coffee has not received any reports of Illness or Injury associated with this product, we are voluntarily recalling this product out an abundance of caution," read a statement made by New Mexico Pinon Coffee.
The affected coffee pods were sold at Costco, Kroger and Walmart. If you do spot the recalled item in your home, you're urged to not consume it. You can throw away the coffee or return it to the store it was purchased from for a full refund.
New Mexico Pinon Coffee's recall joins a number of recalls that have occured in recent weeks. Just recently, Kayem Foods Inc. recalled approximately 24,173 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken sausage products nationwide. The recall was initiated because the sausage may have been contaminated with foreign material, specifically pieces of plastic.
