Man accused of killing daughter, 2, and wife in Queens stabbing: sources

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man is accused of stabbing his 2-year-old daughter and his wife to death in their Queens home on Saturday, according to police sources.
Police said Ernesto Cruz, 54, was arrested Sunday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Officers responded to a home on Forest Avenue around 7 p.m. on Saturday when they found the suspect, 41-year-old Ana Pilatagsi-Moposita, and 2-year-old Analiz Cruz with stab wounds, according to authorities.
Police said Pilatagsi-Moposita suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest, while her daughter was stabbed throughout her chest and neck. Both were taken to local hospitals where they were pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Sources said Ernesto Cruz stabbed himself in the chest in an apparent murder-suicide attempt. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect's arraignment was pending on Monday.
