McDonald's Breaks Its Silence on Snack Wrap
Earlier this month, McDonald's officially brought the Snack Wrap back to the menu for the first time since removing it from the menu nine years ago. Since its return, the menu item has generated a surge in attention from customers, and it sounds like McDonald's is grateful.
On July 10, the beloved menu item officially returned to the McDonald's menu, and it was an instant hit. In fact, the item was so popular across the country that McDonald's was not even fully prepared for the demand, as it led to a brief lettuce shortage at some restaurants throughout the country.
“The launch of our Snack Wrap has been met with incredible excitement from our customers,” Tyler Gamble, a McDonald’s operator and chair of the National Supply Leadership Council, said in a statement earlier this month. “From day one, in the face of overwhelming success and traffic into our restaurants, I’ve seen all three legs of the stool—suppliers, employees and franchisees—work together quickly to plan and adapt.
“This close collaboration has enabled us to be nimble with our supply and keep up with that customer demand. What we’ve experienced was an awesome problem to have.”
However, as Gamble said, running out of an ingredient because stores are selling too much of a product is obviously a good problem to have, and it sounds like McDonald's is quite pleased with the excitement the new menu item has been met with.
The company broke its silence on the viral menu change this week, making it clear that it is "blown away" by the response the beloved item has received from fans and customers.
"After nine years of pent up demand, fans showed up in full force to celebrate the return of the Snack Wrap," McDonald's told Fox Business this week. "We’ve been blown away by the response, from packed restaurants with lines out the door to nonstop social buzz."
Clearly, customers are happy, and that makes McDonald's happy.
