Sudden Trade Sends MLB Star Straight from One Plane to Another Ahead of Deadline
The 2025 MLB trade deadline is on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
On Wednesday, a flurry of blockbuster trades were made, with some even being finalized late into Wednesday night.
Just before midnight, the Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks agreed on a massive trade that sent slugger Eugenio Suarez to Seattle, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Not only does Suarez return to Seattle, but the timing of it is something.
The Mariners and Athletics game in Sacramento, California, had just ended, and the Diamondbacks had just landed in Sacramento ahead of their three-game series against the Athletics.
That means Suarez will go straight from one plane to another.
"On the Mariners postgame show just now, @AngieMentink reported that the #Dbacks had landed in Sacramento as the Mariners-A's game was ending. Eugenio Suarez will deboard the Dbacks plane and walk right on to the Mariners one to head to Seattle," Jake Garcia reported.

Eugenio Suarez will deboard the Dbacks plane and walk right on to the Mariners one to head to Seattle.
The Diamondbacks just played in Detroit on Wednesday and left for California, and the Mariners are now headed back to Seattle, where they will begin a three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Friday.
Suarez Returns to Seattle in a Weird Twist
Suarez was with the Mariners in 2023 and 2024 before being traded to Arizona after the 2023 season.
This year, Suarez has 36 home runs with 87 RBI, and he made the National League All-Star team.
Now, he goes back to Seattle, and the Mariners also acquired Josh Naylor in a previous trade with the Diamondbacks, so the phones have been busy between these two front offices.
All in all, Suarez and the Diamondbacks land in Seattle, but now the All-Star infielder heads right to Seattle with his new team.
