Two men were injured in a shooting Friday afternoon in the Logan Square neighborhood.
The men, whose ages weren't known, were near the alley in the 2000 block of North Saint Louis Avenue when they were shot around 5 p.m., Chicago police said.
One man was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said. The other was in stable condition.
A man who lives nearby, but did not want to be named, said he heard about six shots, but thought they were fireworks.
"I always brag about how this neighborhood has gotten safer over the years, but lately it seems like more crime is happening around here," he said. "I don't know why. I don't know what's happening."
In a statement Friday to the Sun-Times, CPS said: "Student safety is one of Chicago Public Schools' highest priorities. The District was notified Friday, August 1 of charges involving CPS teacher Jaron Woodsley. Upon learning of the teacher’s arrest, the District immediately removed this individual from their position and the Office of Inspector General has opened an investigation. CPS will not hesitate to terminate an employee under established District policies and procedures."
