28 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Stars Have Come Out As Trans After Competing On the Show
RuPaul’s Drag Race remains a staple in pop culture and the LGBTQ+ community!
The series first debuted in 2009 on Logo TV, and has aired 17 main seasons and ten All Stars seasons, bringing drag queens to the forefront.
Throughout the years, the show, which now airs on MTV, has won 27 Emmy Awards, six MTV Movie & TV Awards, three Producers Guild of America Awards and so many more.
In addition to the flagship series, there have been many spinoffs, including RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and 15 different versions across the world, including in Canada, Mexico, France, Thailand, Philippines, Brazil, UK and more!
224 drag performers have competed on the main American franchise, with the competitors being previously mainly gay males impersonating females, but there has since been a straight male competitor, several Trans women and a Trans man.
Many who competed on the show identified as male at the time of filming, and there have been many who have come out as Trans women following their time on the show, and there has even been some who came out on the show.
