Jefferson CSD part-time coach charged in 25-count indictment
JEFFERSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A former part-time coach for a merged team between Jefferson Central School District and Stamford Central School District has been charged in a 25-count indictment in Delaware County, for alleged sex abuse involving 4 child victims. Brent Trimbell, 44, of Hobart, also faces federal charges stemming from the investigation.
An investigation into Trimbell began in June after the Delaware County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of child sex abuse involving two minors, which included forcible sexual contact and sexual conversations. It was also reported that Trimbell was the victims' softball coach.
On July 23, he was arrested again on additional charges of Disseminating Indecent Material to a minor, but posted bail and was released. On July 27, Trimbell was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation after investigators executed a federal search warrant on his cell phone.
According to investigators, the search reportedly found additional evidence, which led to more interviews with possible victims. According to the Delaware County District Attorney's Office, a total of four victims have been identified.
On July 31, a Delaware County Grand Jury charged Trimbell on 25-counts of child sex crimes.

Charges pertaining to victim 1:
- Forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor, in winter of 2022, 2023
- Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the first degree, a class D felony, between May 2025 and June 2025.
- This alleges he communicated with the minor over the internet in a sexually explicit manner to entice her to engage in sexual activities.
- Sexually Motivated felony, a class D felony, in April 2025
- Endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, for allegedly engaging in a course of conduct between 2022, 2023 and June 2025.

- Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to engage in sexual conduct
- Criminal Sexual Act in the first degree, a class B felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to engage in oral sexual conduct
- Rape in the first degree, a class B felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to engage in sexual intercourse
- Rape in the third degree, a class E felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim, under 17 years old, to engage in vaginal sexual intercourse
- Rape in the first degree, a class B felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to engage in sexual intercourse, on a separate date.
- Rape in the third degree, a class E felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim, under 17 years old, to engage in vaginal sexual intercourse, for a second time
- Rape in the first degree, a class B felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to engage in sexual intercourse, for the third time.
- Rape in the third degree, a class E felony, in March 2020
- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim, under 17 years old, to engage in vaginal sexual intercourse, for a third time

- Forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor, in winter of 2022, 2023

- This count alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to perform oral sex on him.
- Rape in the third degree, a class E felony, in April 2025
- This count alleged he engaged in oral sexual conduct with the victim, under 17 years old
- Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the third degree, a class D felony, in May and June 2025
- Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the third degree, a class D felony, in May and June 2025
- These counts alleged he inserted his fingers vaginally by forcible compulsion, on two different dates
- Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, in May and June 2025
- Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, in May and June 2025
- Sexual Abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, in May and June 2025
- These counts alleged he forcibly compelled the victim to use her hand on his penis and forcibly compelled her to engage in other unwanted sexual conduct
- Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the first degree, a class D felony, between May 2025 and June 2025
- This count alleged he communicated with the minor over the internet in a sexually explicit manner to entice her to engage in sexual activities.
- Sexually Motivated felony, a class D felony, between April 2025 and June 2025
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor
Charges pertaining to victim 2 and 3:
- Predatory Sexual Assault, a class A-II felony
- This count alleged he committed rape in the first degree to more than one victim
Charges pertaining to victim 4:
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor, between April 2025 and June 2025
If convicted of predatory sexual assault, he faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison. If convicted on his federal charges, he faces a maximum sentence of 30 years and a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. He also faces five years to life on probation, a fine of $250,000, restitution to the victim and will be required to register as a sex offender.
