Bills Legend Jim Kelly Shares 'Amazing' Update on Health of Grandson
Buffalo Bills legendary quarterback and Hall of Famer Jim Kelly has posted another update on the status of his grandson, who has dealt with serious medical complications since he was born earlier this summer.
Kelly revealed that, on Aug. 5, his grandson "came off of oxygen" and has been able to remain off of it since, which he dubbed an "amazing update."
"On August 5th, Hunter’s Heaven Day, Little Bean came off of oxygen… and has remained off ever since. We believe with all our hearts that this is an answer to prayer and a glimpse of God’s healing power," he said in a post on Instagram.
Kelly added that Aug. 11 is the next important date for the baby, as that is when doctors will again attempt to take him off medication.
"August 11th is a very important day, the doctors will try again to take Little Bean off his medication and our prayer is that he will be able to stay off the medication and not need any additional intervention. Until then we wait and we heal!!" Kelly wrote.
Kelly first revealed the medical complications with his grandson in a press release on July 10. The baby is the first child of Kelly's daughter, Erin, and her husband, Parker.
Kelly has not revealed the medical complications his grandson is dealing with and has instead decided to share the information "when the time feels right."
Kelly played all 11 seasons of his NFL career with the Bills. He earned five Pro Bowl nods and went to four Super Bowls with the franchise. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
