23 Injured in Tribal Clash in Chaman, Balochistan, Pakistan
A tribal clash in Chaman, Balochistan, Pakistan injured 23 people, including three women, amid rising concerns over recurring violence and the region’s long-standing tribal rivalries.
A violent clash between two rival tribes in Pakistan’s border town of Chaman has left 23 people injured, including three women, according to a report.
The confrontation erupted on Saturday evening, August 9, in the “Anzargi Karier” area of Chaman, near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Witnesses said the fighting involved sticks and shovels, resulting in injuries to various parts of the victims’ bodies.
Medical officials at Chaman Hospital confirmed that most of the injured sustained blunt-force wounds. Several were treated on the spot and discharged after receiving first aid, while others required further medical attention.
This incident comes shortly after a similar outbreak of tribal violence in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, where around 30 people were killed or injured, underscoring the recurring and deadly nature of such disputes.
Chaman, a strategic border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan, has long been plagued by tribal rivalries. Disputes over land ownership, trade routes, and smuggling networks often spark violent confrontations.
Weak governance and limited law enforcement in the region have allowed such conflicts to escalate unchecked, leaving local communities vulnerable to cycles of revenge and recurring violence.
