5 injured, 2 dead after NYC shootings overnight
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Saturday night into Sunday morning was marked with gunfire throughout New York City, with a total of at least seven people shot in four separate incidents.
The first of the incidents resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man in Brooklyn, according to authorities. He was shot in the back in the area of 57th Street and Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park shortly after 9 p.m., police say.
In the Bronx, three people were shot at 1932 Crotona Parkway in West Farms just after midnight on Sunday, officials tell PIX11 News. A 22-year-old woman was shot in the left arm while a 32-year-old woman was shot in the back, leaving her in critical condition at the hospital, according to authorities.
A 37-year-old man who was also shot at the location later walked himself to the hospital with a gunshot wound in his left arm.
Back in Brooklyn, two more people were shot at 603 Bushwick Ave in Bushwick around 1:26 a.m. on Sunday, police say. A 35-year-old woman was shot in the chest and arm, while a man in his 20s was shot twice in the arm, officials report.
Sources say the shooter appeared to be waiting on the other side of a door and shot at the two victims when they exited the location.
The last incident also resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man who was shot in the shoulder near 24 Pine Street in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, just before 2:30 a.m., according to police.
There have been no arrests as investigators continue working to find out the circumstances leading up to each shooting.
The string of shootings came after three people were shot by a teen in Times Square early Saturday morning.
