Popular Baked Good Sold at Target Recalled Due to Potential Wood Contamination
According to a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notice, the Canadian manufacturer Give and Go Prepared Foods Corp has issued a voluntary recall due to potential wood contamination in a popular baked good sold at Target.
What product is being recalled?
The product being recalled is 13.5-ounce containers of Favorite Day Bakery Sugar Cookies in a 10-count that were sold in Target stores. The recalled product UPC is 85239-41250 3 with a lot code of 25195. The 'Best By' date can vary as they are applied by retailer when removed from freezer..
On August 4, the voluntary recall was categorized as a class II recall after being initiated on July 22.
Where was the product sold?
At least 803 recalled cases (15 units per case) were distributed across 20 states in the U.S from 3 distribution centers in Connecticut, Maryland and Ohio.
The affected cookies were sold in retails stores in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont and Washington D.C.

What should you do if you purchased the recalled product?
Target has stated it has removed all of the products from stores and online. However, if you purchased these cookies, it's recommended to return or discard.
The FDA recommends returning the recalled product to any Target store for a full refund. If you discard the product, assure it's securely wrapped. They warned to not distribute or donate the affected product.
