Simon Jordan makes Oliver Glasner exit admission in warning to Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has turned around the fortunes of the club.
In just a space of few months, the manager has guided the Premier League side to their first two major pieces of silverware.
Glasner’s Palace team first beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final to win their first major piece of silverware.
They have now added the Community Shield to their cabinet after beating Liverpool at Wembley in a penalty shootout.
The manager has shown that he can perform wonders for the club even with limited resources.
Crystal Palace warned about the future of Oliver Glasner
Following his success with Eintracht Frankfurt, Glasner joined Palace providing the fans with optimism for the future but even they would not have envisaged results like this.
With success comes responsibility and that could now put Palace in a tricky situation.
The club’s former chairman, Simon Jordan, has given them a warning over the future of Glasner, claiming that if the manager is not backed in the transfer market after his recent success, he could walk away from Selhurst Park.
Speaking on the Jim White Show on talkSPORT, Jordan said:
“Glasner must have had a conversation with Parrish. He must have had an explicit level of… not so much dictating, but his desire to build the team.
“And if he doesn’t get it, then Palace will go on, but they will lose Glasner sooner rather than later if they do not back him to some extent.
“But the finances won’t be enormous. If you win the FA Cup, you haven’t won much money.”
Palace need to back their manager after recent success
Palace have only made two signings so far this summer. Goalkeeper Walter Benitez and full-back Borna Sosa have arrived at Selhurst Park but the major issue remains the future of some of their current players.
Two of their star players, captain Marc Guehi and midfielder Eberechi Eze, could leave the club before the end of the transfer window this summer.
Guehi is being heavily chased by Premier League champions Liverpool while Eze has caught the attention of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
More than any other signing, keeping these two players could be crucial for the Eagles.
Although it seems highly unlikely that Guehi would stay at the club due to his contract situation, the club must back the manager in the market with a worthy replacement if that happens.
