Bondi says alleged DC sandwich thrower was DOJ employee
Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday said the Washington, D.C. man accused of throwing a sandwich at a federal law enforcement officer was employed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony,” Bondi wrote in a statement on X.
“This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ,” she added.
Sean Charles Dunn, 37, was charged with a felony after allegedly throwing a Subway sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent on Sunday.
Onlookers caught the interaction on video and posted it to social media.
“Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city!” Dunn yelled on the video at a group of agents.
“He thought it was funny,” U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said in a video response to the incident on the social platform X. “Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today because we charged him with a felony, assault on a police officer, and we’re going to back the police to the hilt. So there, stick your Subway sandwich somewhere else.”
“You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement,” Bondi wrote in her Thursday post.
