THE 2025 MXOAN Donnybrook Motocross showdown exploded into life on day ONE, Saturday, with daredevil riders from over 10 African nations tearing up the track in search of glory.
In the heart-pounding MX1 class, Namibia’s Mark Sternagel unleashed his KTM 450cc beast to clock a scorching 2:45.12, edging out South Africa’s Callan Broskie, who pushed his Husqvarna to a close 2:46.21. Zimbabwe’s own Tristan Versveld and Ashley Thixton were shoulder to shoulder, recording times of 2:48.56 and 2:49.12 in a thrilling chase.
The Vets class was no walk in the park either, as Namibia’s Björn Bierbrauer hammered through the dirt on his Yamaha with a time of 2:51.45. But all eyes turned to Zimbabwe’s pint-sized prodigy, 10-year-old Victor
Nyamupfukudza, who stunned the crowd in the MX65 class with a gutsy 3:02.19.
In the MX50cc class, South Africa’s Ethan Style lived up to his name, grabbing the top spot with a time of 00:12:24.680 and 20 points, while Brayden Tucker and Travis Hart trailed closely behind. Botswana’s Ross Evan
Branch stamped his authority in the MX Vets/Masters class, sealing victory in 00:41:21.270.
The women turned up the heat too, with Zoe Botha ripping through the Women’s Motocross class to claim first place in 00:15:19.830. South Africa’s Bayden Woolls also lit up the track, cruising to the top of the classification with 00:15:59.020.
In the MX125 class, Tristan Durow blazed to victory in 00:17:14.270, with a best lap of 1:37.720. Another hot contest saw Jordan Van Wyk, Emmanuel Bako, and Brendon Hodgans occupy the podium, with Bako showing his class with the day’s best lap of 1:36.000.
South Africa’s Brody Bircher ruled the MX Lites 1 classification, hammering out 11 laps in 00:17:21.970 to collect 20 points, while Kabelo Ledwaba thrilled fans with the best lap time of 1:39.940.
As the dust settled and engines cooled, riders limped off the track battered but buzzing, leaving fans with one burning question: who will be crowned king of Donnybrook when the curtain finally falls today, Sunday?
