Weekend Watch: Gambler Days at Moody and Clear the Shelters
AUSTIN (KXAN) - Rainfall this week won't keep people away from hitting the streets and enjoying professional bull riding at Moody or helping to Clear the Shelters. This weekend also marks a return of Le Garage Sale, a free movie for families, a dog event at Zilker Botanical Garden, and Austin Pride.
Weekend Forecast
Rain chances are dropping for the weekend after a few days of showers, with a 10% chance of rain on Saturday. As Sunday looks to remain dry, temperatures will slowly start to creep closer and closer back towards triple-digits once again.
UNO Social Club
The popular family fun game UNO has rolled into town, bringing the UNO Social Club to Austin. UNO will be at Murray's Tavern on Thursday, August 21, with the UNO Social Club Takeover. Guests can expect to find themed UNO gameplay Stations, Instagram photo-ops, custom cocktails inspired by UNO's iconic colors, and beats by DJ Sunset Canyon.
PBR Gambler Days
Buckle up, Cowboy, as Professional Bull Riding is in Austin. Moody Center will be the home of our very own PBR team, the Austin Gamblers, for the weekend. This three-day event will be packed with team tournaments and more, including concerts, an expo, and plenty of entertainment. Free Outdoor Movie Night
Grab some popcorn and your favorite blankie as The Lorax will be screening in Georgetown this Friday night. Taking place at The Crosspoint Church, the backyard will open at 6 p.m. and the movie will start at sunset. No ticket is needed. There will be food trucks, free popcorn and water, yard games, and a pickleball court. All you need to bring is lawn chairs or a blanket and the entire family. Clear The Shelters
How much is that doggy in the window? Free! KXAN is joining NBC Universal's nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign to encourage people to adopt from their local shelters and to "clear the shelters." Saturday, August 23, is the peak of the event, which runs all year long. Shelters across Central Texas are participating in the event, waving or lowering adoption fees, making it easier for you to grow your family and bring home a pet. Dog Days of Summer
Get your dog ready to spend some time with you at Zilker Botanical Garden on Saturday, August 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is included with a regular day admission to Zilker Botanical Garden and will feature a ton of things to do, including pet portraits, a dog and owner look-alike contest, pup pools, treats, vendors, activities for dogs and humans, and more. Le Garage Sale
Get ready for a sale like no other as Le Garage Sale makes a stop in Austin with independent boutiques and local labels all together. Taking place at the Palmer Events Center on 900 Barton Springs Road on Saturday, August 23rd, and Sunday, August 24th. Over 140 local businesses will be on hand with plenty of clothes and accessories, along with home decor. Mix on top of it some music, coffee, and cocktails, and you have a fun event. Austin Pride
Celebrate your pride this weekend as Austin Pride takes place this Saturday, August 23rd at Fiesta Gardens on 2100 Jesse E Segovia Street in Austin from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a following at 8 p.m. from the Texas State Capitol and running south culminating on the Congress Avenue Bridge with floats, marching groups, and community spirit.
